Hey everyone, hope you're enjoying this beautiful Friday afternoon! Today I wanted to talk about a few pieces of equipment that I find incredibly beneficial to have in my house to use during workouts. I love body weight/no equipment workouts. They can be effective and super convenient, but I also like to mix things up and work with equipment. I'm going to share a few things I own (or wish I owned) to incorporate into your home workout.
This might be the best piece of equipment to have: a foam roller. These things are incredibly useful and I wish I would have discovered it sooner. I would recommend taking at least one day out of the week and working with a foam roller to stretch and loosen up the muscles. You can find some great exercises here. Foam rollers aren't incredibly expensive and definitely worth every penny you spend. You can find foam rollers here, here, and many other stores that carry sport and exercise equipment.
Dumbbells are also something that can be useful. So many workouts can be done using exclusively body weight and dumbbells. In fact, most of the workouts I do at home use dumbbells. You don't need to buy a whole set that range from 1-20 lbs. All you need is a pair that is a comfortable weight for you; I usually use about 8-10 lbs. Good prices can be found here, here, and here.
Stability balls are also something that I like to use regularly. They are great for core strength and you can use them in so many different ways, take these exercises for example.
It is important that you buy the exercise ball that is right for you. Here are height guidelines to go by when you're looking to buy. Thanks to POPSUGAR for the information.
4'11" to 5'4" height: 55 cm ball 5'4" to 5'11" height: 65 cm ball 5'11" to 6' 7" height: 75 cm ball
Seriously, one of my all time favorite pieces of equipment is a jump rope. This activity burns calories, is GREAT for the heart, and is pretty simple once you get the hang of it!
A piece of a equipment I'm looking to invest in is a kettle bell. I've used them in the gym and they provide an awesome full body workout! These can be one of the more expensive things to get but definitely worth it! If you're just starting out I would suggest getting 10-20 lbs.
Am I telling you to go out and buy all this? Absolutely not! But if you're looking to step up your workouts at home or want to try something new, even one of these items would be a great investment.
There are also sport resale shops like Play It Again Sports. You should be able to find all of this equipment at one of these stores. Check out the website to find a location and see what you can find!
Hope you all have a great weekend!
